mega noob update @_@

Well its been a while since my last update so I thought I might upload a few things X3

Firsts is Digital Design Studio, I managed to compile the first scene of the egg project and do the special effects for it. I'm relatively happy with how its turning out so far but I'm not sure if the cut scenes are working.

I've almost finished the modelling of my speeder for Multimedia design, I'm really happy with how things are turning out so far, I just need to finish up the turn table base and do a playblast of all my other scenes. Managed to complete it in 2 days :/
I discovered some really awesome new features in Maya that I want to write up so that I don't forget...
  • I can add blurry reflections to a standard Maya shader by scrolling down to the mental ray node in the shader attributes . then adjusting the blur limit and the number of reflection repeats (this effects the number of times an object repeats its self in a reflection.
  • I can also fake SSS without using a mental ray shader in the mental ray node by adjustingthe scatter radius and colour (this effects the strength)
    • Accuracy, falloff and scatter limit controls the quality
  •  refractions can be turned on in normal mental ray shaders by turning it on in the ray-tracing node and then the blurriness can be adjusted in he mental ray node.
  • irradiance in the mental ray node of a shader can fake GI by making light bounce of an object and make it have a secondary colour tone.
Also been mucking around with Maya 2012 and it is a beast :) will never go back to 2011...
Thats  all for now folks

New random update

Hello world xD

Did some art at drawing class and uni and decided to post up my WIP's and completed art to keep track of my progress.

These are a bunch of hands I did in drawing class. The main aim was to try and shade them so that they showed weight and good form. the proportions are out on most of them but I think its a good start seeing as this isn't a topic I have had much of an opportunity to explore. I used an sketch pad and clutch pencil :)

This was an assignment done for 3D class in which we had to make a architectual interior (fantasy or realistic). I opted to make a game environment and had lots of fun doing so. I did everything for this assignment and I'm particually proud of the textures becuase they turned out really well. I still need to fix up the lighting becuase it doesnt really portray the mood I want and I also need to include a spaceship which will be animated in the environment. I used Maya, Photoshop and Crazybump.

This was a completely random exercise I decided to do in maya in which I animated a camera flying past some balls XD. I was focusing on  creating an ambient occlusion pass (good shadows) and depth of field, I also learned how not to do batch rendering.

This was done for my motion graphics class, I was given the theme of "information" and I had to use it to create something for TV. So I decided to create a program guide for the ABC TV network. All the graphics are made in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, I then composed them all in Adobe After Effects to create the final video.

Other than the huge amount of uni work I have been doing I've been playing the newly released Crisis 2 which is loads of fun, I also can't wait for Battle Field 3 to come out.
